This year has seen the spirit of Africa harnessed elsewhere through jewellery, with the launch of Pembe's Club's Sea collection, inspired by the beauty and allure of its marine life. Created by founder and Yasmine Haji, whose love of oceanic and aquatic activity lead to its creation, the limited edition range highlights the different shades of the sea, displaying an assortment of beads in a variety of blues and greens, along with pendants that feature an array of shark teeth, corals and shells which are all gold-plated and come in a variety of sizes.
Also inspired by the natural beauty of Africa, epynomous designer of Betty Balaba Jewellery found inspiration following a visit to the continent. "I had always wanted to design an African inspired fine jewellery range, but everything came together after taking a trip to Uganda after having not been back for many years. I was inspired by the culture and craft markets I visited on my trip," Balaba explains.
Balaba's fine jewellery is made from 18 carat gold, silver and is set with diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires and pearls. "I find enjoyment in the beauty and richness of life's experience and so my African-inspired fine jewellery collections tell the story of those experiences," Balaba adds.
